Largemouth and smallmouth bass are both great to catch and my favorites. But here's why smallmouth are better to catch.. All around smallmouth will put up a harder fight then largemouth will. Whether its a 2 pound smallmouth or a 5 pounder they are strong and give a great fight. You don't really get that with largemouth unless its a big fish. Part of the reason for this is smallmouth live in bodies of water that have running water such as rivers so they are stronger from fighting the current constantly. Smallmouth can be easier to catch. Although you can never say for sure that you can get fish to bite you're more likely to get a smallmouth to bite. Smallmouth have a larger appetite and eat more then largemouth. Smallmouth also school up more than largemouth will. If you can find a smallmouth spot there will usually be a few fish stacked up on that spot. This makes them good to target in tournaments to get a easy limit before targeting big fish. Overall smallmouth are better to catch but not everyone has the chance to depending on where they live.
